    Title:Research on the Image-Motion Compensation Technology of the Aerial Camera Based on the Multi-Dimensional Motion of the Secondary Mirror

    Abstract:Targeting the dynamic image-motion problem of aerial cameras in the process of swing imaging, the image-motion compensation technology of aerial cameras based on the multi-dimensional motion of the secondary mirror was adopted. The secondary mirror was used as the image-motion compensation element, and the comprehensive image-motion compensation of the aerial camera was realized through the multi-dimensional motion of the secondary mirror. However, in the process of compensating for the image motion, the secondary mirror would be eccentric and inclined, which would cause the secondary mirror to be off-axis and affect the image quality. Therefore, a misalignment optical system model was established to study the relationship between the deviation vector and the misalignment of the secondary mirror, and the influence of the secondary mirror's motion on the distribution of the aberration was analyzed. In order to verify the image-motion compensation ability of the multi-dimensional motion of the secondary mirror, an experimental platform was built to conduct a laboratory imaging experiment and flight experiment on the aerial camera. The experimental results showed that the dynamic resolution of the aerial camera using the image-motion compensation technology could reach 74 lp/mm, and the image-motion compensation accuracy was better than 0.5 pixels, which met the design expectation. In conclusion, the image-motion compensation technology is expected to be applied to various high-precision optical imaging as well as optical detection systems.

    Abstract:Infrared image enhancement technology plays a crucial role in improving image quality, addressing issues like low contrast, lack of sharpness, and poor visual effects within the original images. However, existing decomposition-based algorithms struggle with balancing detail enhancement, noise suppression, and utilizing global and local information effectively. This paper proposes an innovative method for enhancing details in infrared images using adaptive guided filtering and global-local mapping. Initially, the original image is decomposed into its base layer and detail layer through the adaptive guided filter and difference of the Gaussian filter. Subsequently, the detail layer undergoes enhancement using a detail gain factor. Finally, the base layer and enhanced detail layer are merged and remapped to a lower gray level. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in global and local contrast, as well as sharpness, with an average gradient enhancement of nearly 3% across various scenes.

    Abstract:This paper introduces a novel digital triangular-trapezoidal double-channel shaping algorithm to enhance the counting rate of resistive anode detectors. The algorithm is based on the trapezoidal shaping algorithm and improves it. At the extreme counting rate, the trapezoidal shaping algorithm cannot alleviate the pulse pileup, so the counting rate cannot meet the requirements of a high performance detector. The triangular-trapezoidal double-channel shaping algorithm is introduced in the resistance anode detector, which can replace the trapezoidal shaping filtering algorithm to process the output signal of the resistance anode detector and obtain the single photon position information. This improvement improves the counting rate of the resistor anode detector and reduces the resolution degradation caused by pulse pileup. The algorithm is simulated by System Generator software and implemented on FPGA (field programmable gate array). The triangular-trapezoidal double-channel shaping algorithm presented in this paper plays an important role in reducing electronic noise and pulse pileup. The algorithm is subjected to simulation testing, and it can recognize signals with a minimum pulse interval of 1 mu s and counting rate up to 1000 kcps.

    Abstract:PurposeThis study aims to promote the anti-disturbance and tracking accuracy performance of the servo systems, in which a modified active disturbance rejection control (MADRC) scheme is proposed.Design/methodology/approachAn adaptive radial basis function (ARBF) neural network is utilized to estimate and compensate dominant friction torque disturbance, and a parallel high-gain extended state observer (PHESO) is employed to further compensate residual and other uncertain disturbances. This parallel compensation structure reduces the burden of single ESO and improves the response speed of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) to hybrid disturbances. Moreover, the sliding mode control (SMC) rate is introduced to design an adaptive update law of ARBF.FindingsSimulation and experimental results show that as compared to conventional ADRC and SMC algorithms, the position tracking error is only 2.3% and the average estimation error of the total disturbances is only 1.4% in the proposed MADRC algorithm.Originality/valueThe disturbance parallel estimation structure proposed in MADRC algorithm is proved to significantly improve the performance of anti-disturbance and tracking accuracy.

    Abstract:Higher-order structured light beams, including optical vortex (OV) beams and vector beams, which can be geometrically represented as points on higher-order Poincar & eacute; spheres (HOPSs), have been widely exploited in applications such as optical trapping, optical communications, optical metrology, quantum optics, to name a few. To date, traditional approaches to producing such higher-order structured light beams deal with controllable generation of different static points on HOPS. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate the generation of spatiotemporal structured light beams that dynamically vary on HOPS. By superposing OV beams with different frequencies, spatiotemporal vectorial structured light beams that dynamically vary along latitude lines, meridians, and other trajectories on the first order Poincar & eacute; sphere are generated in simulation. Our work may give new insight into arbitrarily and ultrafast tailoring higher-order structured light beams.

    Abstract:Domino effect is widely known and intuitively understood. Although the concept is frequently used, a few works combine it with liquid manipulation. Liquid manipulation is essential in many fields; however, large-scale liquid manipulation using minimal forces is still a challenge. Here, we show a domino-like liquid manipulation process triggered by wind on heterogeneously wettable surfaces. This effect was demonstrated using velocities of wind between 2.2 and 3.0 m/s on structured surfaces containing water film thickness in the range of 2.5-4.5 mm. The domino dewetting surfaces were shown on various patterned designs with 32-224 mm in length; however, under ideal conditions, the effect could be infinitely transmissible. Such a concept might apply to long-distance directional transportation of floats, and bed bottom dust cleaning. Other designs, such as a branched tree structure, can drive larger objects, and remote circuit interrupters were shown. This method provides an approach for manipulation of water movement by tiny forces triggered toward multifunctionality.

    Abstract:A series of ZnS0.75O0.25:0.1%Ce3+,x%Tb3+ 0.75 O 0.25 :0.1%Ce 3+ , x %Tb 3+ phosphors were prepared by high temperature solid state reaction method. These phosphors exhibited two mixed phases consisting of hexagonal phase ZnS and hexagonal phase ZnO with the average particle size of 13.83 mu m and emitted blue-green light. The luminescence mechanism consisted of Zn vacancy defects, the 5d1 1 , 2F5/2 F 5/2 radiative transitions of Ce3+, 3+ , the 5 D 4 , 7 F 5 and 5 D 4 , 7 F 6 radiative transition of Tb3+ 3+ induced by the energy transfer of Ce3+ 3+ , Tb3+. 3+ . An equation for the variation of the fluorescence lifetime of ZnS0.75O0.25:0.1%Ce3+,x%Tb3+ 0.75 O 0.25 :0.1%Ce 3+ , x %Tb 3+ phosphors with concentration of Tb3+ 3+ fraction was obtained by exponential fitting. The short fluorescence lifetime could be tuned within the range of 113 mu s to 550 mu s with the increase of Tb3+ 3+ concentration, and the color was tunable from blue to blue-green, which is of important application in the field of high-energy particle detection.

    Abstract:Mn(ii)-doped cesium lead halide perovskite (CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I)) quantum dots (QDs) have attracted a lot of attention from researchers attributed to their bright orange light emission. However, defects such as inefficient energy transfer and instability have hindered the commercial application of the material. Here, we propose a convenient core-shell coating strategy to epitaxially grow a CsPb2X5 shell on Mn-doped CsPbX3 surfaces by controlling the reaction time and precursor ratio. Meanwhile, density-functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that a typical type-I heterojunction is formed between the CsPb(Cl/Br)(3) cores and the CsPb2(Cl/Br)(5) shell, which improves the energy transfer efficiency from an exciton to Mn2+. The obtained Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)(3)@CsPb2(Cl/Br)(5) core-shell materials exhibit enhanced optical properties and excellent water/thermal stability. Subsequently, the white light-emitting diode prepared from the composites shows a high luminescence efficiency of 127.21 lm W-1, and the PL intensity is still maintained above 95% after 24 h of continuous operation.

    Abstract:Traditional ultraviolet-visible spectroscopic quantitative analytical methods face challenges in simultaneous and long-term accurate measurement of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and nitrate due to spectral overlap and the interference from stochastic background caused by turbidity and chromaticity in water. Addressing these limitations, a compact dual optical path spectrum detection sensor is introduced, and a novel ultraviolet-visible spectroscopic quantitative analysis model based on physics-informed multi-task learning (PI-MTL) is designed. Incorporating a physics-informed block, the PI-MTL model integrates pre-existing physical knowledge for enhanced feature extraction specific to each task. A multi-task loss wrapper strategy is also employed, facilitating comprehensive loss evaluation and adaptation to stochastic backgrounds. This novel approach significantly outperforms conventional models in COD and nitrate measurement under stochastic background interference, achieving impressive prediction R2 2 values of 0.941 for COD and 0.9575 for nitrate, while reducing root mean squared error (RMSE) by 60.89 % for COD and 77.3 % for nitrate in comparison to the conventional chemometric model partial least squares regression (PLSR), and by 30.59 % and 65.96 %, respectively, in comparison to a benchmark convolutional neural network (CNN) model. The promising results emphasize its potential as a spectroscopic instrument designed for online multi-parameter water quality monitoring against stochastic background interference, enabling long-term accurate measurement of COD and nitrate levels.

    Title:Gradient and curl optical torques

    Abstract:Optical forces and torques offer the route towards full degree-of-freedom manipulation of matter. Exploiting structured light has led to the discovery of gradient and curl forces, and nontrivial optomechanical manifestations, such as negative and lateral optical forces. Here, we uncover the existence of two fundamental torque components, which originate from the reactive helicity gradient and momentum curl of light, and which represent the rotational analogues to the gradient and curl forces, respectively. Based on the two components, we introduce and demonstrate the concept of lateral optical torques, which act transversely to the spin of illumination. The orbital angular momentum of vortex beams is shown to couple to the curl torque, promising a path to extreme torque enhancement or achieving negative optical torques. These results highlight the intersection between the areas of structured light, Mie-tronics and rotational optomechanics, even inspiring new paths of manipulation in acoustics and hydrodynamics. Researchers discover optical torque components produced from light's reactive helicity gradient and momentum curl. They introduce and demonstrate the concept of lateral optical torque to spin objects, transversely to the spin of illumination. The principle of optical spanner is re-examined, highlighting the impact of orbital angular momentum on the torque and its negative manifestation.

    Abstract:The ultra-narrow spectral width laser with excellent temporal coherence is an important light source for microphysics, space detection, and high-precision measurements. However, less attention seems to be paid to mode-locked pulsed lasers in the similar to 1.9 mu m. Due to the narrow bandwidth of femtosecond laser inscribed fiber Bragg gratings (FBG), the thulium-doped fiber laser (TDFL) can generate ultra-narrow spectral width pulse. The central wavelength and 3-dB bandwidth of the output soliton is 1877.938 nm and 0.044 nm. The linewidth of the output pulse reaches 3.7 GHz. To the best of our knowledge, this is the narrowest spectral width in 1.9 mu m. Additionally, when the FBG is compressed or stretched, the central wavelength of pulses will be tuned. This work extends the application scope of FBG and provides a new and simple method for realizing an all-fiber modelocked laser with ultra-narrow spectra width at 1.9 mu m.

    Title:Surface degradation of epoxy resin exposed to corona discharge under bipolar square wave field: From phenomenon to the insights

    Abstract:The unavoidable corona discharge induced by distorted field is detrimental to the safety of power equipment, especially the equipment with high voltage magnitude and high frequency. In this paper, the degradation morphology, residual components, lifetime of endurance, partial discharge characteristics, and evolution of surface traps of epoxy insulation under bipolar square wave field is investigated. The results show that degraded zone exhibits as three layers with round pits and channel-like ravines on the surface of epoxy resin exposed to corona discharge. It is demonstrated that more oxygen element during corona discharge while more carbon element during breakdown appeared, and nano-Al2O3 fillers migrates to the discharged zone. The maximum temperature and number of emitted phonons increase with voltage amplitude and frequency in power law and exponential form, respectively, corresponding to the fitting function of endurance lifetime. The emitted light is concentrated on the near ultraviolet (UV) and infrared ray (IR) band, indicating the energy pooling and thermal effect of corona discharge, which interprets the distinct degradation behavior of samples under sinusoidal and bipolar square wave voltage. The effect of space charge and thermal conductivity should be considered simultaneously in the degradation of epoxy insulation under bipolar square wave field due to polarity reversal and high frequency, which is proved by the disparate behavior of EP/nano-Al2O3 composites resistance to corona discharge and the breakdown moment at falling edge of bipolar square wave voltage. This work may contribute to the advancement of resistance to corona discharge degradation in equipment with high power density, high voltage amplitude and high frequency.
